Old Navy Fall Try-On

I can’t tell you the last time I stepped foot in an Old Navy – mainly just because it never occurs to me to go there. I stopped in recently and was blown away with the amount of products they had at really affordable prices, and on top of that they were marked down even further! I’m talking jeans for $15, y’all.

Most everything ran TTS, the fabrics were soft and cozy, and the color selection was right in line with what is current.

To shop all of these looks and more, click here!

The coziest dress! – TTS – Hits just above the knee – SUPER SOFT – Very loose and flows – Belt for a more fitted look!

Love these sweater tunics.. TTS – TONS of colors to choose from – Soft & light-weight material- Great length for leggings!

Jeans are TTS – Stretchy denim – Buttons up in place of a zipper

Henley shirt: tons of colors – TTS but if you want a looser fit, size up! – Light-weight material -Hits at the hip

Jeans: TTS – stretchy – $15!!

Hoodie is soft, cozy & TTS – Side zipper detail

Corduroy skirt: TTS or size down – Lighter corduroy material – Vibrant colors!

LOVE the color of this shirt – If you have a larger chest, definitely size up 1-2 sizes for a looser fit – Very soft and less structured material.

Also, this shirt hits right at the hips.

Coat: Very sleek! – Wish it was belted for a more fitted look. – Hits at/just above the knees – Under $70 – Rich camel color – Zipper travels the entire length of the coat!

Buffalo plaid shirt: Size up for a looser fit – Medium thickness material

Jeans: Stretchy – TTS – Under $25!

Sized up 1 size for a loose, off-the-shoulder look – Very cozy – Will actually keep you warm

Same tunic, different color – Jeans: size up 1 – Stretchy denim material – Distressed hem at the ankles

Denim jacket under $50! – TTS – Super comfy even with wide shoulders – Works just fine with a larger chest

Old Navy is currently having a HUGE Fall Sale – up to 75% off, sweatshirts and outerwear from $20, dresses and jeans from $15, and tees from $5! Almost everything I tried on was well winder $50 and the quality was pretty impressive. Take advantage of the sale while you can and stock up!

Pretty in….. Plaid?

I LOVE PLAID.

I also love flannel, but it’s too heavy of a fabric to sport in the Sunshine State 98% of the time.

If you are anything like me, you love plaid prints too, but have a rational fear of looking like a trendy lumberjack that just came out of aisle 6 at The Home Depot. A few tricks I use to combat such a nightmare include pairing the top with more feminine pieces and keeping at least one article of clothing a bit more form-fitting to keep from looking boxy and instead flattering my body. For instance, pairing a looser-fit top with some tighter jeans and/or heels or a pretty boot of some kind can really alter the whole dynamic of the look. Glamming your outfit up a little with some jewelry and accessories is another easy tactic to keeping you far from the “I’m looking for my misplaced axe…” look.

Plaid comes in so many patterns, color combinations and can be used on many different articles of clothing in all different seasons- there’s always something for everyone! Fall seems to be the prime time for plaid though, and with good reason; there’s a certain cozy, homey, warm feeling associated with plaid (at least in my humble opinion) that just pairs so perfectly with the Fall season.

I’ve linked just a few of my favorite things for this upcoming season- all numbers correspond to the numbered links and all of the looks are current to this season!

1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 – 8 – 9

What are some of your favorite plaid looks? How do you style them throughout the seasons? I’d love for you to share!

Trending: Animal Print

This upcoming Fall season is throwing it back to the cringe-y pre-teen and teenage years of leopard print EVERYTHING and I’m kind of loving it.. the tactic that none of us awkward little queens had was learning how to style it properly.

Leopard print seems to be what is promoted the most out of all of the prints of the animal kingdom, and although it can be busy and a little tricky to work into your everyday attire, it can also be used as a great neutral. The trick is to blend it and keep your overall look sleek and clean.

The top I recently purchased is made by TopShop and I ordered it from Nordstrom and LOVE it! Due to the fact that it’s still summer I paired this top with some nice white jeans and neutral, taupe colored peep-toe booties and gold & silver mixed jewelry with a splash of emerald green for a subtle pop of color.

Like my top? You can find it here.

I’ve also linked some other great pieces below- either statement or just a little accessory like a scarf to add a little somethin’ to your outfit without going overboard- great if you’re not quite comfortable committing to an entire piece of clothing in animal print!

One thing I’ve been seeing a LOT of is pointed-toe mules. Surprisingly LOVING them, and really like this pair I found from Express. Would look super cute paired with skinny dark pants, black jeans, blue jeans, red or cranberry-colored pants.. so many options for these! Find this pair here.

If you’re not ready to go all out on a pointed-toe mule AND a crazy print, these Tory Burch patent leather Miller sandals are a fabulous option. I have a few pairs of these TB Miller sandals and adore them- dress ‘em up, dress ‘em down- they always look great and are super comfy! This leopard print pair is so pretty and though it may look a bit overwhelming, remember the only parts you will see are the straps once your foot is inside, so they can be paired with a ton of outfits without overpowering anything! Find these sandals here.

This clutch from Nordstrom’s BP line is cute, wallet-friendly, and an easy way to keep with the trends without going overboard. Find this clutch here.

The movie, “Pretty Woman” is actually the first thing that came to mind when I saw this skirt (…probably not a good thing) however, I think that when paired with the right sweater and pair of boots or booties, this skirt could be very well-done and flattering! Find this skirt here.

Scarves are always a great way to accessorize without going crazy on unique pieces or breaking the bank, and this scarf is no exception. This has the option of going with warmer tones or a cool grey/white combination that I also love- both from Banana Republic at a great price point! The print itself is somewhat muted, and I really love that about it, as you can use this for an easy accent piece to your ensemble OR a good neutral to work into an outfit. Find this scarf in both colors here.

This next sweater is a great and affordable option, again maybe for someone who wants to incorporate some animal print without really hopping on the commitment train. This grey sweater features a small printed area around the collar of the sweater and keeps the rest of the sweater simple and plain. You can find this sweater here.

As much as I love this sweater, I don’t love the price tag! You can find this beauty at Nordstrom but be warned- it will a $300+ dent in your bank account. Still linking it for those who just love it that much! Treat yo’self!

Lastly, this cardigan is a great piece. Long and reaching past the hips, but lightweight enough so it won’t bring you to the brink of heatstroke if you’re living in the South (I’m pretty sure we all just exist at that point anyways..). I found this at ViciCollection, a boutique I am really loving recently, and they have very affordable pieces! Check out this cardigan here.

Well, there you have it. I hope these pieces along with my own inspired y’all to find your inner glitter-blue-eyeshadow-wearing, leopard-print-obsessed, scrunchie-collecting (P.S.- those are coming back on trend too! Dying inside.) girly selves to give this animal print thing another go round.

Cheers to second chances with fashion!

Moving Forward

Lately I’ve found myself looking forward to my future from a different perspective. What do I mean by that? For the longest time, I’ve been supplementing my happiness with a career that will keep me financially stable and allow me the freedom to have flexibility with my spending and give me a sense of contribution to our home. Recently I have been heavily re-evaluating my career options specifically pertaining to my happiness: I have found I am really missing the feeling of fulfillment. Over the years I have felt like nothing more than a clinical robot, trying to find my niche and coming home with a half-empty heart and an aching lower back.

A recent opportunity in life has caused me to radically question and make necessary changes that will bring forth a positive outcome in my own soul’s happiness but also have the biggest positive impact on others. I am working hard to get through the muck and to the other side, and would appreciate your good vibes, thoughts and prayers throughout my little journey!

Following the theme of “looking ahead” in life, here’s some recent Summer-to-Fall looks I’ve put together for the upcoming months! I always look forward to the months of September through December, and this year is extra-special because I will be getting married to my better half during this time!

Links for each outfit will be provided under the photo sets- as a heads up, the majority of my outfit pieces from these looks can be found at Nordstrom.

Transitionals

Summer to Fall, church to brunch.. it always helps to have outfits in your closet that can transition you from one thing to the next without bringing 12 changes of clothes or sweating half of your face off by 1 o’clock.

With Fall looks quickly approaching and settling in the stores but the relentless Summer heat just hangin’ around, it can put you in a pickle when trying to coordinate an outfit.

Enter: transitional pieces:

  • Lightweight cardigans or sweaters in colors that are light but trendy for Fall (think dusty pink, light grey, light taupe, muted blues, etc.)
  • Peep-toe booties
  • Sweater tanks
  • Simple and neutral dresses or skirts
  • Thinner ankle or slightly cropped pants/denim
  • Denim jackets
  • Chambray shirts

… and the list continues!

These items are also quite useful for different occasions during the same day where you may need to be a little more conservative at one location but can lose a layer afterward.

Some of my favorite places to find great transitional pieces are Nordstrom, Express, and Macy’s. Many times these pieces can also double as great neutrals to wear at any time of the year, which means getting more use for your money! What are some of your favorite transitional items?

Happy Sunday!

Black on Black

Today I headed out to try on MY wedding dress that came in, instead of the original sample! It fits like a dream and needs very minor adjustments! I am so ecstatic to share my wedding dress and whole experience in this blog! Just a few short months left!

I was also fortunate to meet up with a really amazing friend; we always have the best talks and it’s like our souls just “get” each other. I’m coming to appreciate that more and more the older I get- I would rather have a few “soul” friends than a bunch of acquaintances. This one always makes me realize how lucky I am to be able to surround myself with such a positive presence- and really that goes for all of my closest friends!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

As you’re probably well aware by this point, Nordstrom is having their amazing Anniversary Sale. The best thing about this sale is that the pieces involved in it are not old clingers from the Spring and Summer months, but rather new Fall items that have just made it into the store, giving you the opportunity to score some pieces for the upcoming months for a fraction of the retail price. Now, once the sale is over, the items will go up to full price, so snag your faves while you can!

I’ve done a haul and try-on session on my Instagram page, linked here– you can find them under my highlighted stories.

Remember that your size or color selection may get restocked if you have found it was sold out! Keep checking back in!

Also, the booties and the blue denim jeans are my picks for items similar to mine from this year’s sale. My Vince Camuto booties are a bit different, but the same shape and very comfortable! The jeans are actually a pair I have been wanting for myself, and are comparable to some I purchased a few months ago from Nordstrom. Lastly, the David Yurman-inspired bracelet is from The Styled Collection, which is not affiliated with Nordstrom. I’ve linked this as well!

Overall this sale has some fantastic deals! Even some jewelry I have seen marked down by $700-$1000, so if you’ve been saving up, now is a great time to splurge and avoid paying full price. I had to restrain myself because I want ALL the Fall clothes and I forget I live on the surface of the sun. Anyway, I hope this post inspired you and got you excited for the next season like it did for me!

Sunday Stripes

This weekend I visited my best friend and we got close to zero pictures together, mainly because we were so busy in the moment that we just forgot. It was honestly a little nice to forget about my phone and documenting each moment of my life- instead I was just living it. Sometimes we all just need that reminder to not watch our lives pass by through a digital screen and to truly soak in what is happening all around us.

I was able to snag a few photos of my outfit I wore to brunch this morning. Details of my outfit are linked below.

DressSimilar BagSimilar EarringsShoes

*The handbag I have is a few years old, and is the Rebecca Minkoff MAC crossbody Ostrich with gold hardware. The Mini MAC that is provided in the link is quite similar. The earrings I have are made by Bauble Bar and purchased at Nordstrom a few months back, but no longer on the website. I found a similar pair also made by Bauble Bar available at Bloomingdales!

Hope y’all had a happy Sunday!
